The Daily Hampshire Gazette published a somewhat lengthy article on the city’s broadband plans on Thursday, with an emphasis on the general findings from the broadband study and where the city can go from here. It mentioned that the City Council voted for a second time to create a municipal light plant (MLP) at the meeting. It largely mirrors our reporting of the meeting almost a week ago.
The article discussed the process of creating a MLP for the city, which the mayor noted would be only for the purpose of Internet access. Northampton voters would have to vote to create a MLP. The Mayor anticipates that it will be on the city’s November ballot.
